Dr. Imran Khan

Dr.Imran Imran Khan completed his B.D.S from Khyber College of Dentistry (KCD), Peshawar in 2006. Soon after completion of his House job in March 2007 he started running his own dental practice under the name “Shifa Dental Associates” at Shifa Hospital, Swat, where he served the community for more than one year. In August 2008 Dr. Imran joined the Masters program in Experimental Oral Pathology at Queen Mary, University of London, UK. After completing the Masters Degree program in September 2009 he joined an NHS dental practice at “The Dental Surgery” in Glasgow, UK where he worked for 5 months as a dental observer, to work with more experienced dental professionals, getting a knowledge of patient dealing in a more professional manner apart from learning advanced clinical procedures.

Since July 2010 till date Dr. Imran is working as an Assistant professor and Head of Oral Pathology Department at Islamabad Institute of Dental Education and Allied Sciences (IIDEAS), Islamabad, Pakistan. He is also working as an associate dentist with a group of renowned dental practitioners at their clinics at Maroof International Hospital & Medics OPD.

Although Dr. Imran has excelled well in a wide variety of sports including Cricket, Football, Table Tennis, Squash, and Badminton, he was awarded a Gold Medal for his lifetime achievement in the sports of Trekking. He was among the team leaders who guided the first female trekking expedition in Pakistan to the world renowned “K2-Base Camp” in July 2002, walking for 14 days on the world’s largest glacier outside Antarctica the “Baltoro Glacier”.

  • Attended ADULT IN-HOSPITAL RESUSCITATION at Barts and the London, NHS Trust on 3rd of November 2008. The course contents included: 
    • In-hospital basic life support
    • Cardiac arrest simulations
  • Attended RESEARCH GOVERNANCE at Barts and theLondon, NHS Trust on 18th of February 2009.


During his Master Degree Program Dr. Imran worked on the ‘Role of Secretory Leukocyte Protease Inhibitor (SLPI) in healing of ulcers in Behcet’s Disease (BD) patients’ using sensitive microbiology techniques including ELISA, qPCR, and Western Blotting and comparing these findings to those in Healthy Controls and Recurrent Aphthous Ulceration patients.
