Prof. Haroon Shahid Qazi

Haroon

Dr Haroon Qazi completed his bachelors in dental surgery from de’Montmorency College of Dentistry, Lahore-Pakistan in 1999. During his house job at the Punjab Dental Hospital he also worked for Align Technology (Invisalign) as a Clinical Assistant Director. Dr Qazi completed the Masters program in Orthodontics at Marmara University, Istanbul-Turkey. In July 2003 he started working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics, Margalla College of Dentistry, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He became Associate Professor and Head of Orthodontic Department at the same college. In March’2010 he was promoted to the position of Vice Principal at Margalla College of Dentistry.

Dr. Qazi joined Islamabad Medical and Dental College in June’2010 as Vice Principal Dental Section and Head of the Orthodontic Department.  He was promoted "Professor of Orthodontics" in October 2011. Other than enjoying teaching he has his own dental practice at the “Qazi Dental Practice” and the “Dental Centre” in Islamabad. He is a member of the Pakistan Association of Orthodontics (PAO). In June 2004 he was elected as Clinical Secretary, Pakistan Dental Association (PDA) Federal Zone.

After working for more than two years in the field of Orthodontics in Islamabad, Dr Qazi felt the need of continuing educational programs to be conducted on regular basis for general practitioners. It was a difficult task, which was made easy by his interest in medical education. Presently Dr. Qazi is also the program director and full time instructor at the “Dental Centre” for the “Comprehensive Clinical Orthodontic Course”.
Other than bending wires and giving patients a million dollar smile, you can never keep Dr Haroon Qazi away from watching and playing cricket. He plays for the Islamabad Gymkhana, Margalla Players Cricket Club and is also the captain of his own club by the name of “Corner Tigers”. Corner Tigers have been representing in the international super sixes and they are the only Pakistani club cricket team to have ever won an international super sixes tournament.

• Completed a course on “Esthetics and Finishing in Orthodontic Treatment” directed by Dr. B. Zachrisson in Istanbul-Turkey in October 2002.

• Attended a program on “The Clinical Management of Temporomandibular Disorders” presented by Dr. Jeffrey P. Okeson in Istanbul-Turkey in October 2002.

• Participated in an advanced post graduate orthodontic course on the concept and application of the Alexander discipline on “so when do we extract” conducted by Dr. W. Alexander in Istanbul-Turkey in March 2002.

• Attended a two-day course on “Excellence in Orthodontics” presented by Prof. R. Nanda in Istanbul-Turkey in May 2001.

• Attended an 8 hour course entitled “Periodontology and Dental Implants for the Practicing Dentist,” presented by Dr Amin Ur Rehman in Lahore-Pakistan, 2nd July’2000.

• Participated in the 6th Pakistan International Dental Conference held from 25th-28th November 1999 in Karachi-Pakistan.
